What is Rock Steady Boxing?

Rock Steady Boxing is a unique program designed to help individuals with Parkinson’s disease improve their quality of life through non-contact boxing exercises. The program was founded in 2006 by Scott. C. Newman, who was diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s disease at the age of 40. He discovered that boxing helped him to improve his balance, coordination, and mobility, which led him to create Rock Steady Boxing.

The program consists of a series of exercises that are specifically designed to target the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. These exercises include boxing drills, balance training, and agility exercises. The program is non-contact, so participants don’t have to worry about getting hit or hurting themselves. Instead, they work on improving their coordination, strength, and balance through a series of controlled movements.

Rock Steady Boxing has been shown to be an effective therapy for Parkinson’s disease. Studies have shown that it can improve balance, mobility, and quality of life in individuals with Parkinson’s disease. In addition to physical benefits, the program also provides emotional support and a sense of community for participants.

Rock Steady Boxing is not just a workout program, it’s a community. Participants form friendships and support networks that extend beyond the gym. The program provides a safe and welcoming environment where individuals with Parkinson’s disease can come together to work towards a common goal.

In conclusion, Rock Steady Boxing is a valuable program for individuals with Parkinson’s disease. It provides a safe and effective way to improve physical fitness and quality of life while also providing emotional support and a sense of community. If you or someone you know has Parkinson’s disease, consider trying Rock Steady Boxing here at Ballard Fitness to see if it can help improve your symptoms and overall well-being.
